 |  | What's Gaia Online? Well it is a large community of avatar created characters that interact with one another within a large fictional world. There is an economy which lets you outfit your little creation with whatever type of wardrobe you like as well as buy it a house, car, and accessories. There are movies, music, forums, and guilds to join. Sounds great right? Well it can be if your a casual player but there are downsides too. Emo kids are rampant on the site as well as GaiaFags. If you don't know what a GaiaFag is then let me just say welcome to the internets cause' you must have just arrived. LOL. All in all though for a free service this site is fun and once you get into it its hard to stop playing. |

| | The internet is host to many amazing free things and Shoot-The-Core is a place to find a good amount of them. If you have ever played shmups (Shoot them ups) before then this site should be of interest. Unlike emulated games which require you to download zips and emu files to play Shoot-The-Core hosts freeware games. This basically means that its one download and you're good to go. So you don't really have to be tech smart, in most cases, to play the games. The list of triple A titles this site has links to is impressive. If you're into shmups than check the site out. I recommend "Blue Wish Resurrection Plus". That game is fucking great. A incredible bullet hell title. |

| | Another great freeware site that offers a whole host of different genres of games but still focuses mostly on shmups. Along side the freeware they have access to Touhou titles. These are extremely fun and frickin impossible to find on anything but torrent sites. The community here is very large and active and is a great resource for info on just about anything. But even with all this going for the site the fact that it takes so long to download files is irratating. Sure its free and thats great but I am dead serious about download speeds. Expect hours of time to kill for a 200mb file. If you love shmups than its worth it. If not than download elsewhere. |

| | Caiman is a great site if your looking for any type of freeware game out there. From Bonesaw to Blue Wish it is host to tons of great content. Totally free and easy to navigate this site is tops when it comes to freeware. |

| | When you first get into emulating games there are two main things you'll need. EMUS and ROMS. EMUS (emulators) are software versions of the console while the ROMS are copies of the games. A problem people encounter when they first start out is that the downloaded emulator they get is either broken or just a assholes bad joke in the form of a virus. With Emulator-Zone neither of those things are something you'll have to worry about. This site is great with multiple emulators for each console out there; each with its' own rating from the community. Pick the highest rated and download and you're good to go. Now all you'll need are roms. Now I've never encountered a virus here but its better to always scan before you open regardless of the site. Better safe than sorry. |

| | So now you find yourself with an emulator but no games to play on it. So what do you do? Well you find a decent site and hope what you download is actually what it is listed as. Most ROM sites will have viruses and other nasty things. Its a basic fact but it isn't the people on the site who are responsible. They find and list what they can and most of the time it is what it says but occasionally there are mistakes. Rom-World is pretty damn good and you're likely to get what you downloaded without a hassle. It's a good place to start at least. You'll notice that there are multiple copies of the same game with numbers and letter next to them. This refers to the language and version. So if it is a ROM of "3D World Runner" for the Nintendo Entertainment System you might see one version with the an "E" next to it and one with a "U" next to it and one with a "J" next to it. These stand for languages. E is English, J is Japanese and so on. Just a small heads up. |

| | Another ROM resource site that is free to download from. While this one has a large selection like the others listed here this one does have a problem with busted/broken/infected files. Just a heads up. While the majority are ok and work fine I suggest like all other ROM downloads that you scan them before use to avoid problems. Also you'll need to enter the text code that is displayed after clicking "download this rom" to start the download. This is in place to stop blanket downloading by machines. Otherwise their bandwidth would go to shit. Remember that all ROMS must be in ZIP FILE format to be useable in a EMU. I recommend using 7zip for this if you need to but ususally the ROMS you'll download will already be zipped like they should be. |
